OH Mrs. BrownDirt

When last we visited with Mrs. BrownDirt, she was at a lodge, enjoying herself on vacation. That same vacation she had a few other adventures. Let's check in and see what she was up to on her vacation to Plain, WA.

It was a sunny and very warm day - so Mrs. BrownDirt and her people headed off for a picnic, trying to find some water - a lake, a river, an ocean - oh wait - no oceans in Plain, WA

I love a good picnic - especially one with a cooler full of good food - and cold ice, it is very hot today and we cotton people might get wrinkled and mussed in the heat. Ahhhh comfort.

I think I'll have a look around - see what is in the woods by this river . . .

Oh noooo - a bear - run - hide. I thought this was going to be a civilized lodge vacation - not one with bears. They will eat the stuffing right out of you if you aren't careful!

It is a very big bear!!

Quick - up a tree - hope I don't fall over into that river - a girl doesn't like to get wet and messy in her good dress,.

Uh oh - I'm not such a good climber - heeeelp!

Oh dear - I forgot that bears can climb trees - now what?

I'll hide in the leaves . . .

The bear seems to be friendly - he says I should come down for lunch - I hope he doesn't mean that I am going to be lunch. I've very hungry so I will chance it - it is easier to get down out of a tree than to get up in a tree.

When I climb down - what do I see - Buddy E - waiting on a rock - is he laughing at me?

That frog - he is laughing because he ate the sandwiches while I was desperately trying to escape that ferocious bear - I bet Buddy E sent the bear after me.

No no - the frog is going to eat all the Girl Scout Cookies . . .

Go ahead frog - try and get those cookies!

Oops - did you fall into the box ? Hee Hee Heee

Oh I'm sorry frog - really I am - the cookies got all eaten up before you could get any - maybe it was that mean old bear - snicker snicker - really, I AM sorry frog.

It was a nice picnic, despite having to hide from a bear and then the frog eating the sandwiches - I think he has a tummy ache, I know I do - I mean the bear does, from eating all those cookies.

Mrs. BrownDIrt Goes to A Lodge

Now - to introduce Mrs. BrownDirt to all the fans of Buddy E and Grampa Bear (you are pronouncing it Graaaaahhhmpa - like the doctor says - say ahhhhh, aren't you?  It is his preferred pronounciation)

First - let me introduce you to a good friend - a blogging friend - at Brown Dirt Cottage. She and I have so many things in common, even though she lives in Texas (and I grew up in the BIG state of Alaska). We both love iced tea, hate making ice cubes, we love quilting, collecting old dishes and vintage linens. We both have owned an antique shop at one time and we like to refinish furniture.
A while back, a friend of hers did this fabulous post - about Mrs. BrownDirt, and going camping. I thought it was so cute - so I just had to have a Mrs. BrownDirt doll too. It is not as good as a visit from the real Mrs. BrownDirt - but it is sure fun.
After Mrs. BrownDirt went camping, I thought it might be nice for her to go to a lodge, which is more to my taste.

First I had to make a Mrs. BrownDirt doll - like the one that went camping.

Hi - I'm Mrs. BrownDirt - I have a lovely patchwork dress, you didn't expect any less, did you? My hair was cut from fabric scraps with pinking shears - quite in style, don't you think?

I heard we were going to a lodge - I'd better get packed right away!

Oh no - stuck in the suitcase - I was so wiggly the photo came out blurry.
This packing is hard work . . .

I get tired on long trips - so sometimes I nap in the glove box - wonder why they call it the glove box - I find some scissors in here, and some napkins, a book about the car, some wet clothes to wipe up with - Don't wash me with those - I stain easily - but no gloves. At least it is soft and cozy, until "she" puts her camera on top of me - I really don't appreciate that.

We are heading for the lodge in the mountains - but we all got very hungry so stopped at this nifty Diner - it has all sorts of interesting old things in it.

We had to leave our Hula Hoops and Pogo Sticks outside . . .

Here I am posing with Lucy - I was going to pose with Marilyn Monroe but I didn't want her to be sad, because I am so much prettier than she is, with my velvet button eyes and painted on nose.

So we ordered sandwiches - they were big - and delicious, I have to say.

Big, and thick and yummy - I'd show you the milkshake, but someone drank it all up!

When they bring the bill, they clip it to this very old record - it is just the right size for a bracelet for me - don't you think?

Oh that frog - he's such a show off! It was him - that's who drank that whole milkshake - I'm just sayin'

Outside the Diner they had some big chairs - just my size . . .

I think I could go for another 2 napkin burger - how about you?

A ride on a bike - just the thing for after dinner . . .

Oh dear - I hope this isn't our lodge. Whew, drove right on past - what luck . . .

Here we are at last - what a long trip . .

A nice place to sit in the evening after traveling all day . . .

Here is our room in the lodge - don't you think this is better than camping in the dirt?

I think I'll take this bed . . . talk to you later, we have a lot of adventures coming up, but a girl needs her rest, if that frog would just quit hopping back and forth between the beds. G'nite

Welcome To My New Blog

Some of you have met Grampa Bear - he travels with us on road trips
.

And his friend Buddy E.

And their new cohort and friend (and accomplice, Mrs. BrownDirt)

This blog is all about their travels and adventures - sometimes alone - sometimes together - that's when the real trouble starts.

I've done some posts about them on my other blogs - so I'll bring those posts over here so you can catch up on their shenanigans activities.

Hope you enjoy - let's start of with an introduction to Grampa Bear (he prefers the the pronunciation "Grahhhhmpa", thankyewverymuch) and his accomplice pal, Buddy E.

These two characters go most places with us. Most times we can keep them out of mischief - but you just never know what they are going to do, at any moment.

Buddy E is the frog - he has really long dancing legs, like Buddy Ebsen (remember Beverly Hillbillies?). Buddy E. loves to get into just about anything and always wants to join in, no matter what I'm doing. He cooks, cleans (well messes up while I clean), reads, sews, writes (on things he shouldn't write on) and eats.

He likes a drink of Pepsi now and then - but really, there is only water in there.

At the lake Buddy E likes to have a snack of Mexican food - and a good dose of hot sauce.   Quick, the water!

Loves the swings in the park and

Gets into things in my studio.

He is sometimes joined by a friend or two - and then we are really in trouble. Grampa is our traveling bear. He has gone to Wisconsin on the train, shopping at Oshkosh B'Gosh in Wisconsin, on boat rides, on picnics, to Canada and often stows away and I don't notice him until we are on our way, and it is too late to turn around and leave him at home. His favorite place to ride now is in Ben's carseat in the back of our car - he can see things better from that spot.

His favorite thing is picnics - any time - any place!!! And like all good bears - Grampa likes to rummage around in the food and see what's happenin'.  He's wearing his Depoe Bay, OR t-shirt - perfect for a picnic.

And of course, like all bears - he eats too much - but is happy as can be.

When we went to a cabin at Silver Lake, Grampa made friends with the Blue Jays by having his friend Murray give them some peanuts. Sometimes he is nice about sharing.

Buddy E likes to travel too - and once he even got to go to Oregon to see the cousins.

He climbed up on top of the birdhouses at my cousin's house in Oregon

And sat by her flowers - he was pretty good this time - didn't pick any flowers - that I saw

And took a long dangerous ride dangerous on her wooden whale

Got dizzy on her whirling flower - urrrp

And swung on the alliums in the wind!

So you have met Buddy E and Grampa Bear - next I'll introduce you to Mrs. BrownDirt - she's a real hoot.
